April 5 marks day of recognition for port
contributions to regional economy

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI – Today, the Port of Davisville announced its participation in Western Hemisphere Ports Day on April 5.  The day of recognition acknowledges the industry’s role in job creation and economic prosperity, and its commitment to education, training and environmental stewardship initiatives on behalf of the communities they serve across the Americas.

The Port of Davisville supports more than 75 companies and adds $97 million to Rhode Island household earnings. The port facilitates roughly $333 million in economic activity, while contributing a combined $27 million in local and state taxes.  The Port also supports 1,500 jobs that are either direct, indirect or induced.

Led by the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) under the banner “United for the Future,” the Port of Davisville joins hundreds of ports in North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean to highlight and celebrate the value of ports.
