John Laramee: Quonset Point/Davisville brings business to Rhode Island

The Quonset Business Park is home to 175 companies (including Vineyard Fast Ferry) that employ over 9,500 people in full- and part-time jobs. One important asset at the park is the Port of Davisville, Rhode Island’s only public port terminal. In the Aug. 18 editorial about the Fast Ferry (“Yes to Quonset-B.I. ferry”) you refer to the Port of Davisville as having “still-underused port potential.”

This outdated notion is simply not supported by the evidence — and hasn’t been for many years. In reality, the port today is a key driver of job growth and economic activity in Rhode Island. Here are the facts:
